A phone call to Stevie Donahue set the bad news wire for 1st base. The call from Greg Bird - the news his ankle bruise is not healing as expected 
Cash made the announcement not to expect Bird back in the foreseeable future. Possibly he could miss another season making it 2 in a row - beginning to think he is injury prone. Time to consider other options for 1B - can't win with Carter or let him cost us more games.
