Mental & physical errors lost the game - not Aaron Boone bringing in Tyler Lyons fir the 11th ^ 12th . Tanaka wasn't sharp and gave up 4 early runs. Dropped balls, balls getting past the infield or dropping in front of outfielders. No secret I love Adam Ottovino but his brain freezeS in the 7th allowed the game to tie and the Yankees couldn't score in the 8th or 9th. A pitcher i supposed to cover first when the play could be going there and the fielder had been involved. You argue that DJ should have gone to the bag after his throw to 2nd but that doesn't excuse Adam for not breaking when the ball was first hit until he was called off. Then to balk is inexcusable BUT with the runner on 3rd spells disaster. To make it all worse he let a questionable call distract his focus - then with his look & gestures calls out a teammate on the field - unacceptable behavior for a veteran. IMO that's really where the game was lost - oh and don't forget our only offense was done in one inning - that's with Toronto using mostly young pitchers.
