That’s where I believe he’s too old to relate to the younger (at least than him) pitchers. It’s like he’s afraid to approach them (especially the vets) to give them some insight like, “take your time” or “just throw strikes and let your fielders do their jobs” there are way too many walks to start off innings, and like someone wiser once said, “ the scoring all begins with walks”. I know the.y have a certain amount of mound visits, but if they have to use one in the first inning to settle a pitcher down, by god DO IT!
