I'm very aware of all the good and unbelievably clutch play the everyday players are giving us. I love these guys. All of them.
But pitching has been horrible. Take away German and Ottovino and look at the numbers. Heck, add their numbers in and still look at the numbers. The numbers tell me that they are below avg. all year. And I don't even know the numbers. haha I know what I am seeing. Chapman has 26 saves in 31 attempts? That's like blowing a save every 5 games he comes in. That is not good.
20 yrs ago, (amazing it's been that long ago) they had dominant pitching in David Wells, David Cone, Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, Dwight Gooden, and many others. And a very good pitching coach (Dave Righetti) that also had pitched a perfect game as a Yankee. Those guys were all aces. Now Severino is our ace? Scary.
Pitching wins championships, we all know that. Cashman signs Stanton to put people in seats. He needs to go. He's too comfortable and knows the Steinbrenner kids only want to vacation in exotic places. The Boss was passionate as the fans. Sadly, he's gone and the passion to win went with him.
