Interesting ideas: not sure if the Mets will deal with us maybe the new GM. Nobody is going to take Ellsbury unless he's an add-on. Bird might do better in another environment.
Chapman is in his last year so would be trade bait for someone at the deadline. Britton resigned with the Yankees -my feeling the idea is for him to close in the future. So far I'm impressed with Urshela - he could be more important than Andujuar who is having trouble not only in the field but finding his timing since coming off the IL.
FYI I didn't go back to Gehrig because I never had the privilege to see him play - that's why I started with The Mick-we started our Yankee careers together.
I agree - whatever it takes for Ellsbury. Waste of a roster spot even on 60-day IL.
I read somewhere that the 2 NY GMs had a pretty good relationship and talks in the winter mtgs. Cash wanted to talk de Grom but had better response talking Syndergard even though nothing came of it. Thinking was if the Mets falter, they might be willing to move him.
Mets have Todd Frazier at 3rd, but Andujar is younger, faster, and better avg. Urshela is better right now in the field, but a small sample. Andujar is young and can get better. Take the grounders, Mig. Gio is fantastic right now hitting. We know this pace is unsustainable. Migster proved sustainable over the year last year, and should've been rookie of yr. Like LeMahieu, a contact hitter with some power. Love that.
Long term, to get a SP the caliber of Thor, I'd take my chances staying with Andujar and giving up a hot commodity. Let's see what the July trading deadline shows us in this battle.
What do you think on moving Betances in that scenario? Package any of the guys I mentioned for Thor. There's still an unsigned closer out there...as I mentioned in another thread; imagine Kimbrel in pinstripes going against the Red Sox who took a pass on re-signing him? heheheeaa
