I hear ya Jethro - I remember the pictures of The Mick pregame having his legs wrapped from thigh to ankle - going out there leading by example/giving his all for the team. Everyone at TYB has ostracized Ellsbum - he should just admit he's done as a player. The only consolation is insurance is paying for his contract. After Stanton's recent interview, I'm totally confused - he talks about his blown out whatever. Injuries are part of the game - but fielding an All-Star DL and still putting a team on the diamond to keep us in contention is awesome. These kids are so much fun to watch.
As for Bird, I've given up on ever having him for a full season even when he plays he doesn't contribute much - having Luke takes away some of that anger.
In time you'll know that my passion for the Yanks runs deep but I temper some frustration with compassion - called mellowing with age (74 next month & a Yank for 68)

Exactly toga. And Lou Gehrig. Every athlete plays with injuries. I understand there are severe injuries, but the coddling that the Yankees in particular give players...well no wonder guys like to um, (play) in NY.

ITA with you on Voit. He loves being a Yankee and takes the responsibility seriously. Took the challenge from Bird head-on in spring training and actually brought the challenge to Bird and we see what happened there. Ship'em. Good trade bait.

I'd obviously prefer de Grom but he's just signed an extension so I doubt the Mets want him going anywhere, but Thor? Intriguing to say the least. Or Matz, or Wheeler? Mets are loaded. Offer Bird, Ellsbury, Orshela, Florial, Tarpley (who I love) Kahnley (you gotta give a good pitcher and this yr he looks good) and a SP. German (can't touch this) but this group in some/any package, I could part with. In fact, Britton Betances, and (Chapman for sure) I would make available. Mariano spoiled us I know, but Chapman is not the answer as closer.
