Anyone who listened to Cash from the beginning shouldn't be surprised by the little deals he's been putting together. Both Machado and Harper along with their money-grubbing agents were going for mega deals in length & $$$$$$. Each agent wants to get the biggest deal in history for his client - 10 years for in excess of $300 mil - there was no way the Yankees were going to endanger their budget for another extensive contract. This deal probably also precludes a deal with Gonzalez.
In a way I feel sorry for Bryce & Manny because of the egos of their agents - that ego is a big reason neither has signed and we're only month before training camps open. This is a case where greed is holding up any possible deal - owners are getting a little bit cost conscience on mega deals. Who will give in first Machado's agent, Harper's agent or an MLB owner???
