Boone said that he remains hopeful that part of their schedule could become more travel friendly in the days to come. ESPN picked up New York's July 8 game against the Blue Jays for their Sunday Night Baseball telecast, meaning that the Yankees would have to play an 8:05 p.m. ET contest in Toronto, then travel to Baltimore for a 4:05 p.m. ET doubleheader the next day.

"Hopefully, it's still happening behind the scenes there a little bit," Boone said. "Hopefully, there's some pressure being applied because that's just not good for the product on the field and for the safety of our guys to be having to go night game, flight into a doubleheader. That's ridiculous, and anyone that would argue with that is not being truthful."

Told that the July 8 game appears to be locked in by his former employer, Boone replied, "Well, unlock it."
