NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Aaron Hicks lasted just one game before returning to the disabled list.
The Yankees announced Friday the center fielder has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a strained muscle in his chest. Billy McKinney, a rookie has yet to play in a big-league game, has been called up.
Injuries, mainly an oblique strain, limited Hicks to just 88 games last season, when he hit .266 with 15 homers.
Hicks went 2-for-4 in the Yankees' 6-1 Opening Day win over the Toronto Blue Jay on Thursday.
Hicks is the second starter the Yankees have lost in the past week. On Tuesdsay, first baseman Greg Bird underwent surgery to remove a small broken spur on his right ankle.
The Yankees are also without center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, who battled an oblique injury and then a flu in spring training. He is working out at the team's spring training facility in Tampa and is eligible to come off the DL on April 5.
McKinney, acquired from the Chicago Cubs in the 2016 Aroldis Chapman, hit five home runs this spring, but had just a .167 average.
