So proud of this Team - they played 'blue collar' baseball more like family. Pulling for each, hanging together, they gelled as a unit and gave their all. As we recover from seeing it all end, remember this is a young team with a few veterans for leadership - but that was in March & April as we watched the Baby Bombers mature and mesh into leaders themselves. They gained experience with each game, through injuries and slumps never losing their spirit. We saw Aaron Judge soar to the heights and fall back to earth but never got in his stats or ego; not taking that slump to the field and interfere with his D. One thing to remember as we get through the off season - we made it to within one game of going to the WS with a team that wasn't even expected to be playing in October. Several years ago in discussing the domination of the Greatest Closer, I talked about an arm only having so many pitches, the body able to perform at its peak for so long - this year we saw a corps of youngsters who had never played this many games, pitch so many games - they experienced uncharted waters together. In essence IMHO this explains Luis Severino's hiccups - his 23-year old arm was extended, not ready to maintain domination beyond the 75 pitches at a time; same for CC. These young men won't get a parade through the Canyon of Heroes in 2017 - but they have laid the foundation for a bright, exciting future. There will be a few changes made during the off season and with the right breaks, this time next year we just might take the next step. Applaud and celebrate what was accomplished in 2017
