Travel Day - No Yankee Baseball

October 19, 2017 01:33PM
As Yankee fans revel in their recent successes and the possible brink of going to another World Series, let
's not get too giddy. The Team is in a good spot and on a roll. The pitching has continued to be outstanding and DRob, Chad & Kahnle have sparkled out of the pen. The D has had spurts of mental lapses and it took time for the bats to come alive - but when functioning on all cylinders, we've seen they can hold their own against even the teams with better records. While await first pitch tomorrow night around 8:10 for us East Coasters, remember a couple of things. So far this year at least in the ALCS, there has been a home field advantage - you can hear it especially the last three games in the Bronx that rocked the building bringing memories of '96 to Joe Girardi. We witnessed the same in games 1 & 2 from Houston. Memories of the '95 WC series with Seattle and the '01 WS against the D'backs (both bitter memories) reflected. Not saying that we're going to lose in Houston especially with the attitude of Judge, Bird, Sanchez Frazier to take one game at a time - You have love the way the young men have responded and bounced back with faced with adversity beginning with the WC against the Twinkies. Coming back from being down 3 runs to advance to the ALDS against the Indians with the best record. In a best of 5 series, losing the first 2 and rebounding to take 3 in a row as Toddler gave the rallying after Joe admitted to his mistake in not acting quickly to ask for a replay. Losing two in Houston, then coming back to win 3 at home brings us to where we sit just waiting to see if Severino can give us a quality outing; can the bats find the chink in Verlander's arsenal & knock the Houston fans out of the game. All in all I am so excited to watch this Team, they started as Baby Bombers maturing & gelling into a cohesive unit with a fighting spirit that never gives up. Can that resiliency work its magic - can the momentum continue in our favor? It's important to head to Houston not with the idea of taking 1 of 2 BUT that we have to come out fighting and take care of business tomorrow night against Verlander (even if that means just pushing the pitch count and getting into the pen. Remember his last outing was 127 pitches)
