As the Yankees return to the Bronx for a nice homestand and the pennant race on the line, we await judgment from MLB Hqtrs. led by Joe Torre. Remember Torre is the same guy who from '96 - '07 did not condone retribution for batters getting hit/brawls. Had the umpires taken charge of situation immediately - a lot of what took place could have been avoided - thankfully looks like no serious injuries on either outside of bloody nose. The umpires walk as way as winners because I'm sure they will not be fined and/or suspended for unprofessional & inept behavior detrimental to the game & welfare of the players. The other winners will be every team we face with suspended key players and especially the other teams contending for the AL playoff spots. The game was important as are all games in a pennant chase - Dana Demuth and the hp umpire totally blew this one. Will the MLB office support this ineptitude? Will Austin Romine be penalized for defending himself? How far should someone be pushed before retaliating? What's the penalty for defending your friend/teammate in the heat of battle? It's in the hands of the committee - hopefully they will make some smart decisions that can prevent this kind of ugliness in the future - and remember that Miguel Cabrera set the wheels in motion in the Bronx when he then wanted his teammates to start something when he was hit and again yesterday in the dugout he went after Victor Martinez for talking to Gary Sanchez. Is that the attitude of someone they will vote in to the HOF?
Enough of my rant - can't say this will be forgotten but let's get back to playing solid baseball and go after that playoff spot -
