RUMOR: White Sox and Yankees Discussed Blockbuster Trade for Top Prospect

The Chicago White Sox are in desperate need of catcher, with starter Alex Avila on the disabled list and backup Dioner Navarro struggling to hit all year.
Both of these guys are veterans and the White Sox need a long-term solution behind the dish anyways.
With that in mind, the White Sox have reportedly contacted the Yankees about top catching prospect Gary Sanchez, who is slashing .281/.321/.487 with 9 home runs and 37 RBI's in Triple-A Scranton.

While the deal sounds sweet for the Sox, the asking price was "far too high" and the talks didn't really materialize.
With that being said, the Yankees should field trade offers for their veteran catcher Brian McCann instead of the promising youngster.

It's no secret McCann has not been the player the Yankees expected this season, and if you don't believe me ask GM Brian Cashman.
"This year, we have not been getting what we expected," said Cashman. "He is better than this."
McCann is hitting an underwhelming .233 with 13 home runs and 35 RBI's, and his numbers are even worse against left-handed pitching (.220), which has relegated him to the bench when they are on the mound.
The Yankees have had a rough season and they need to start preparing for the future. This team is loaded with veterans on big contracts who aren't producing. They need to keep a guy like Sanchez and try and rid themselves of McCann, who eating up a ton of money to be a platoon catcher.
