Weather permitting the Yankees open two games against the Reds followed by four with the Rays - time to roll off some wins and pick up ground. It's exciting watching the kids come up making MLB debuts - Red Thunder is doing all in his power to show he wants to stay. Time to make the right moves and give the kids a fair chance. Ells has not lived up to expectations of that one year before we signed him - he might still have some pop & speed but is it enough to stifle the kid's talent. There's a ton of $$$ left on his contract - you got some saying we should eat it like the Sux did Sandoval's not sure how the Stein boys feel about that, not a tax write-off.
We are seeing Cash doing a 1st base stop-gap until we know how successful Bird's surgery will be - no real answer until September or later. Can't fault him for Cooper, McBroom (trade for Ref) & giving Headley a chance. While Headley is handling 1st adequately, Todd Frasier is getting a chance to fit in & see whether he can get his bat hot at 3rd.
The starting rotation is still a work in progress - Pineda is out; CC is having a descent year but not sure if he will hold up; Jordy started out good but has been faltering see what he gives us tonight; Tanaka struggled to begin the season had a few good games and now we're not sure what we will get inning to inning let alone game to game; Severino has slowly become the ace of the rotation; I have little confidence when Cessa starts either needs to go down to S/WB to work on his pitches; Caleb Smith was lights out for 3 innings but really imploded with two outs in the 4th maybe he just needs to be stretched out; Cash has said that Chance Adams isn't ready to make the next step so question is should we go for an arm via trade - maybe if it's not going to mortgage the farm - and throw Ells in for good measure.
Just some ideas/ramblings on a rainy day - don't know about the weather in the Bronx
